1575 yılında kurulan ve Hollanda’nın ilk üniversitesi olan Leiden Üniversitesi, bir devlet araştırma üniversitesidir. 450 yılı aşkın tarihiyle hem ulusal hem de uluslararası anlamda en prestijli üniversiteler arasında yerini alan Leiden Üniversitesi’nin sanat, bilim ve sosyal bilimler alanında 7 fakültesi ve hem Leiden hem de Lahey (The Hague)’de bir kampüsü bulunmaktadır.

Avrupa’nın önde gelen araştırma üniversitelerinden biri olan Leiden Üniversitesi’nin Zuid-Holland eyaletinde bulunan Delft Teknoloji Üniversitesi ve Rotterdam Erasmus Üniversitesi ile akademik ortaklığı bulunmaktadır.
